The Secret Seed Society team set off for the show to see all the latest stuff for gardeners, and in particular for our young gardeners or, as we call them, Seed Agents.
We were lucky to hear a lot of famous people talking about gardening and from a chef telling us how to create tasty dishes from what we grow.
Pippa Greenwood amused us with tales from her garden, she has problems just like the rest of us, and gave us some tips on growing .
James Wong filled us with enthusiasm for alternative veg and other edible plants.
Rachel Green cooked up some great dishes.
Inspired we looked at the stands for ideas for children’s growing and cooking. We found the ‘Mushroom Man’ on Fungi Futures stand. Guess what? he grows mushrooms on the waste from making fresh ground coffee. We could not resist buying a box and we are waiting to see if the mushrooms taste of coffee! Check out how we get on here.
We were also excited to see Secret Seed Society characterful seed packs on the racks. They looked great with Chrissie Cress waving and all her friends from Seed City, Rio Rocket, Mingo Mung-beansprout, Carla Carrot and Rudi Radish in their packets enticing children to get busy in the garden.
The Edible Garden Show certainly did have everything you’d need and more to grow-your-own; and after such a success the show dates for next year are already up! So make sure you’re free 15th-17th March 2013 for some more grow-your-own magic.
